This month we will be in our (1932 old) house for 6 years. I think we have done a lot and still in the process or doing more, I didn’t take pictures of the house after the closing, I regret that because the images that I have still had the previous owner’s furniture. Nonetheless, I think we have improved some areas and utilize the space to accommodate our needs. I wouldn’t say this is a renovation, but with all the cosmetics issues that we took care off, it really looks like a different house.
I was totally wrong that “cosmetics” like removing wall paper and fixing walls is not a big deal… PAINTING IS A BIG DEAL… the walls underneath all that wall paper were in a horrid state, cleaning those walls was the biggest pain in the ass + lack of time & money, delayed the progress… NO TIME!!
I actually think that living in the house for a little while first helps to determine how you would feel in certain rooms and what colors to choose to paint, I regret some of the color choices we made in a couple of rooms, like the mustard ICKY horrid color in our bedroom, that no one takes responsibility for choosing. or my lack of knowledge on how to treat a room with a chair rail… so confused at the time…
The interested part of our house, and I am going to say interesting is a very loose term, since I do like some of its character but some details in our house are overdone… it’s the amount of details in some of the rooms when it comes to the woodwork, built-ins…oddness!
Like these ones
So We painted the house 2 years ago, and love it…WE removed the black shutters and I think it makes it look bigger, I still would like to change the light fixture… add it to the list!
Can you see the HUGE hydrangeas? Yeah, they are like mammoths… and we trimmed them without the proper care every year, they bloom and take over, an invasion of gorgeous flowers
Next week I’ll have a post about the DIY patio we did last year…
